Fundraiser Focus - Alice Buhusi
How long have you fundraised on behalf of LAAC??
It’s been more than 3 years since I started representing this amazing Charity that saves people’s lives in critical moments every single day!
Why did you choose to become a fundraiser?
I genuinely enjoy talking to people and, having a curious nature, I love knowing more about people in general. By being a fundraiser, I can also make a positive impact by raising brand awareness and money on behalf of some of the most amazing good causes.
What is the best thing about being a fundraiser?
Travelling to all sorts of places throughout London, visiting new places every day and meeting new people every day. Literally, no day is ever the same!
What does a typical day-in-the-life of a face to face fundraiser look like?
I wake up around 6am as I love to have a morning routine with some good breakfast and some stretching exercises. Then I go to the office for meetings and training and then, around lunch time, I usually arrive at the designated location/area to fundraise alongside my team for the day. We usually finish around 7-7:30 pm
What is special about fundraising in a city like London?
London is hugely diverse and you can meet people from all over the world, with such interesting stories and situations! It’s a truly unique city in the world, where people with very different backgrounds meet and live.
What has been the most inspiring moment you have had whilst fundraising for London’s Air Ambulance Charity?
I have had plenty of inspiring moments whilst on this campaign; hearing stories from people whose lives have been saved by the doctors and paramedics at London’s Air Ambulance is by the far the most inspiring! You get to meet in person, there and then, the people who you talk about and who I might have never met without London’s Air Ambulance existing… It is quite surreal when these encounters happen and you do realise that, on a small scale, I myself make a small difference too!
Frequently asked questions about our face-to-face fundraising
Does London's Air Ambulance Charity carry out face-to-face fundraising?
We carry out face-to-face fundraising in private sites, such as shopping centres, and also have fundraisers who go door to door. We encourage people to become regular supporters either by playing our weekly lottery or by signing up to a monthly donation.
These regular gifts are incredibly valuable to us as they provide sustainable and unrestricted income, which helps us plan and deliver the service we provide with a greater degree of confidence. Face-to-face fundraising is also a great way for us to raise awareness of our work out in the community.
Does London's Air Ambulance Charity carry out telephone fundraising?
We use telephone fundraising to communicate with existing supporters; we never make cold calls. We call supporters to thank them for their donation and to find out if they would like to continue to support our life-saving work with a regular donation.
Examples of our telephone fundraising campaigns are reaching out to people who supported with text donations following our Trauma Doctors TV documentary or contacting previous donors to give them the option of becoming regular supporters.
Our telephone fundraising partner is NTT Fundraising. For more information please see the FAQ: "Who has called me?"
Who has called me?
We work with NTT Fundraising, a telephone fundraising agency. NTT carries out welcome calls on our behalf for new lottery and regular giving supporters.
NTT will be using the following phone numbers: 0203 476 8475, 0203 476 8477, or 0203 343 8126.
If you have received a call from the above numbers but would rather not receive further calls from NTT, you can opt-out out at any time, either by calling the number back and following the instructions given, or by contacting Supporter Care on [email protected] or 020 3023 3300, 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday.
How can I tell if a London's Air Ambulance Charity fundraiser is genuine?
We also work with Britevox Limited and Tower Fundraising, two specialist face-to-face agencies who help us carry out our fundraising. All our fundraisers carry photo ID. We have a copy of their photo along with the areas they cover, but you can contact our office to confirm their identity.
How can I contact you if I have any questions or concerns?
We are committed to the highest standards of fundraising practice. Please read our fundraising promise for more information. All our fundraisers receive training from us and we regularly review our processes.
However, if you ever have any questions or concerns about any of our fundraising, or would like to make a complaint, please contact us on [email protected] or 020 3023 3300, we are available to take your call Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 5.00pm.
Why does London's Air Ambulance Charity use fundraising agencies?
Fundraising is a very difficult job, requiring lots of support, administration and training. Although we can support a small in-house team, in order to generate the level of support we need we have to look for external help.
Each of our agencies are specialists in what they do and believe in our work here at London’s Air Ambulance Charity, allowing us to focus on other aspects of the charity whilst they take care of some of our fundraising needs. We ensure that each agency is carefully trained and monitored so that they are the best possible ambassadors for us.
How can I contact London's Air Ambulance Charity Supporter Care to talk about my donation?
We'd be delighted to discuss this with you. Please contact us via email [email protected] or phone 020 3023 3300. We are available to take your call Monday to Friday from 9.00am - 5.00pm.
London’s Air Ambulance Charity is registered with the Fundraising Regulator and committed to follow the Code of Fundraising Practice and the Fundraising Promise.
