VOLUNTEER FOR US

Volunteers are at the heart of our charity, giving their time and energy to help raise vital funds for our life-saving work. Whether you can commit weekly, monthly, or just a few times a year, every contribution counts.

We’re always looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and committed individuals to join our growing team of volunteers and community champions. Our roles are flexible and designed to fit around your life—so whether you want to get involved regularly or occasionally, there’s a place for you.

Thanks to the passion and dedication of our volunteers, we’re able to continue to bring hope to every one of our patients across London, when they need us most, where they need us most.

Volunteers' Week - Celebrating our Volunteers

To mark last year's Volunteers’ Week, we spoke with a few of our dedicated volunteers to hear about their experiences. They shared some of their favourite memories, what volunteering means to them, and their top advice for anyone thinking of getting involved. Their stories highlight the incredible impact volunteers have—not just on our charity, but on the communities we serve.

Our volunteers make it all possible

Our volunteers play a vital role in everything we do, supporting us in a wide range of ways. From lending a hand in the office to helping at community events and street collections, many give their time each week to help keep our service flying.

With a variety of roles available—each with different levels of commitment—there’s something to suit everyone. Whether you’d like to volunteer in our office, out in the community, or in our charity shop, we’d love to have you on board.

Curious about what it’s like to volunteer with us? Explore the stories below to hear directly from our volunteers about how they help and why they choose to support London’s Air Ambulance Charity.

Frequently asked questions

How often can I volunteer?

We have many opportunities for you to get involved in and can accommodate those who would like to volunteer on a regular basis as well as those who may wish to do something less frequently.

Will I meet new people?

Yes. Whether you are volunteering in our office, at events or in our shop you will be working alongside our staff and other volunteers to represent London's Air Ambulance Charity, so you'll have the opportunity to meet a variety of new people. You may also be promoting our work to members of the public.

Can I volunteer in my local area?

Yes. We have volunteering opportunities available across London and would welcome volunteers who would like to represent us in their local communities.

What support and training will I be given?

All volunteers will receive an induction to the work of the charity. We will also provide ongoing support to you during your time volunteering with us.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

Currently we can only accept volunteers over the age of 18.

Can you cover expenses?

Yes. We cover travel and food expenses for all our volunteers.

What if I have a criminal record?

London's Air Ambulance Charity is committed to involving ex-offenders as volunteers where possible. A criminal offence will not necessarily disbar anyone from volunteering but each case will be considered individually.

I want to work in the emergency services, can you offer work experience?

No. We do not have any volunteering opportunities which allow you to work alongside our medical teams. All volunteer opportunities are related to fundraising for the charity.

Do I need to provide references?

Yes. All volunteers will be asked to provide contact details for two individuals who can provide references. This could be a current or previous employer, tutor or another individual who can make comment on your suitability as a volunteer.
