“I definitely recommend looking into the volunteering opportunities at London’s Air Ambulance because you can get involved in a wide variety of different things. I enjoy my admin role because I get to work across all teams and develop my office skills at the same time”.

Alice joined us as a volunteer in November 2013 and can be regularly found busily working away at our Charity office on Philpot Lane (Monument).

After she stopped working as a teacher, Alice decided she wanted to brush up on her office skills. She began looking into volunteering opportunities as a purposeful and rewarding route to achieving this. She saw an advertisement for the role of Volunteer Receptionist on The Guardian website and decided to apply.

Alice was aware of London’s Air Ambulance and the service we provide before she started volunteering with us but she adds: “It was wonderful to visit the helipad and be given an insight into the operational side of the charity. It really put things into context for me and I have been spreading the word ever since. I make a point of telling people I meet about the important life-saving work of the advanced trauma team and the difference London’s Air Ambulance makes to people’s lives here in London”.

Alice volunteers twice a week on our reception desk and is the first point of contact for callers and visitors. She enjoys meeting a variety of different people including other volunteers, supporters, doctors and paramedics.  Always in demand among the various charity teams, Alice has successfully refreshed her administration skills and become a vital member of our volunteer team.

Whether it’s office work or a more active role you’re interested in we have volunteer opportunities across London that might suit you.
