Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum fundraising target to take part?

No, there is no minimum target. Your school can set its own target based on what you feel is reasonable. If you meet that target you can always change it and aim to raise more. It is entirely up to you!

How can we create our copters?

Your pupils can create their copters any way they like. From recyclable materials like cardboard to Lego bricks or even pasta shapes! Budding bakers could cook up a copter cake creation, while aspiring artists could paint or draw their helicopters.

Are there restrictions on how we create our copters?

No, you and your pupils are only restricted by your imagination! You can create your copter from anything you want, from clay to felt to pasta shapes! Aspiring artists could model or paint a copter, while budding bakers could cook up a copter cake creation!

Why do we need to fundraise for London’s Air Ambulance Charity?

Not everyone knows that we are a charity that relies almost entirely on the support of the people who live, work and travel through London. It costs around £10m a year for us to provide our life-saving service. Since 1989 schools have played a vital role in helping us reach our fundraising targets, with pupils, parents, families and teachers using their imagination, creativity and enthusiasm to help raise the money we need to keep our helicopters flying.

How can we fundraise?

There are lots of ways you can fundraise via your Create-a-Copter activity. You could encourage a donation with every copter or invite parents, guardians and families to your school for a special exhibition of your pupils’ amazing creations.

How can we pay on our donations?

Once you have registered we will send you details on how to set up a secure online fundraising page which you can use to pay in donations or share with parents, families and friends. Alternatively, you can pay in your life-saving fundraising in a number of ways. Please see below for more options.

What will you share about careers within London’s Air Ambulance Charity?

While it might be too early for your pupils to know what they want to do when they finish their education, it isn’t too early to let them know about the range of possible jobs available in an emergency service charity like London’s Air Ambulance. From paramedics, doctors, pilots, safety crew and fire officers, to fundraising, communications and marketing, we can provide age-appropriate information about career opportunities.
