Our partnership with Omaze’s Million Pound House Draw has recently come to a close, seeing Jamie win the beautiful Victorian house in London, and our charity secure an incredible £4.4 million.
This unprecedented amount is funding the extension of our ground-breaking endovascular cardiac arrest team (ECAT), giving thousands of people in London a chance of survival when there wasn’t one before.
In May 2025, we launched our ECAT team, bringing life-saving ECMO to the streets for the first time in the UK. This is another medical innovation that our service has spearheaded, demonstrating how we’re continuously improving and developing pre-hospital care in the UK.
The recent partnership with Omaze is enabling us to expand this team, filling a critical gap for patients in refractory cardiac arrest. For these patients, ECMO can be their only chance, increasing survival rates from under 2% to over 33%, helping one in three people go back home to their loved ones.
With Omaze’s support, we’re training more expert clinicians and equipping them with the technology needed to provide these treatments at the roadside. Over the next five years, more than 2,000 patients in London could directly benefit from this first-of-its-kind service, with our innovative learnings being shared nationwide to help transform cardiac arrest care across the UK.
Dr Anne Weaver, our Medical Director, said: "We are incredibly grateful to the Omaze community, who have helped us deliver something truly transformational.
“Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests have not changed for over a decade, and fewer than one in 10 people will survive. But this partnership with Omaze will help us transform cardiac arrest care in London and beyond, enabling more people to return home to their loved ones."
This partnership is our second with Omaze, with the first contributing a transformational £4 million towards our Up Against Time appeal. This year, we were thrilled to work with Rita Ora and Tinie Tempah during the campaign – their support will help us continue to bring hope to every emergency and deliver life-saving pre-hospital care for years to come. We also can’t forget to mention Matt Pohlson, Omaze’s CEO, who bravely abseiled down The Royal London Hospital during the partnership to raise awareness of our service!
To everyone in the Omaze community, thank you. Trauma doesn’t stop, but with your support, neither will we.
