Stef Reid sat on London's Air Ambulance Charity's helicopter

We’re thrilled to announce Stef Reid as a new celebrity ambassador for London’s Air Ambulance Charity as she pledges her support to our vital service.

Earlier this week, Stef visited our helipad atop The Royal London Hospital and met with one of our patient liaison nurses, a member of our fire crew and a pilot to hear firsthand how London’s Air Ambulance Charity serves the 10 million who visit, live and work in London.

Stef is a British Paralympian in long jump and sprinting, a World Champion, a triple Paralympic medalist and five-time world record holder. Her journey to becoming a Paralympian began when she was 15 and was unfortunately involved in a boating incident which resulted in the loss of her lower leg.

Her firsthand experience of trauma and recovering from a life-changing injury makes her an incredible advocate for our service and our patients, and we’re so excited by her commitment to our charity.

Stef said: “It was incredible to speak with members of London’s Air Ambulance and hear about their work.

“The care they provide their patients – both at the time of injury and much further down the line in their recovery – is remarkable and I was unaware of the depth of the service.

You may also recognise Stef from a recent series of Dancing on Ice, in which she was the first person to show on television that you can skate with an artificial leg – an inspiration for many people who may be dealing with the loss of a limb.

We’re thrilled to be working with Stef and look forward to collaborating in the future. On 10 December, Stef will be one of the readers at our special carol concert in St Paul’s Cathedral – alongside her fellow celebrity ambassador, Gaby Roslin. If you’d like to join us for an evening of celebration and cheer, you can purchase a ticket here.
