Infographic showing 185 patients were treated in April 2026

In April 2026, our medics – dispatched from The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel – treated 185 patients. These people were so critically injured, they didn’t have time to get to hospital: they needed our teams to bring the emergency department to them.

Treating these individuals involved administering 28 rapid sequence intubations, 23 blood transfusions, 25 arterial lines, one thoracotomy (open chest surgery), one case of REBOA and more potentially life-saving procedures on scene. Our teams are the only ones who can provide these at the roadside in London.

We attend every borough within the M25, getting to the patient’s side within minutes of injury. During this month, Westminster was the most attended borough, followed by Tower Hamlets and then Lambeth.

Once we’ve stabilised the patient on scene, we usually accompany them to the nearest major trauma centre in a LAS road ambulance.

Infographic showing Westminster was the most attended to borough in April 2026In this month, 45 of our patients were taken to The Royal London Hospital (34.4 per cent), 38 patients were taken to St Mary’s Hospital (29 per cent), 26 to King’s College Hospital (19.8 per cent) and 14 to St George’s (10.7 per cent). We also flew three individuals to hospital – this is incredibly rare, as it isn’t our primary role on scene.

Penetrating impact was the most common mechanism of injury in April, resulting in 80 patients (43 per cent). Transport-related incidents resulted in 40 patients (22 per cent), falls 35 patients (19 per cent), blunt impact 10 (five per cent) and medical-related incidents nine (five per cent). There were also 11 patients who had other or unknown mechanisms of injury (six per cent), which includes burns and industrial incidents.

On the worst day of someone’s life, our medics are there, bringing hope to every emergency. But we’re a charity, with 95 per cent of our funding reliant on public donations.

Only thanks to you, thanks to your support, can we be there tomorrow, ensuring more families get more time, more memories and more moments together.
