September patients treated

In September 2025, our expert team of doctors and paramedics – who serve London using both helicopters and rapid response vehicles – treated 168 patients.

Croydon was the most attended to borough this month, followed by Ealing and then Enfield and Westminster. After we’ve stabilised the patient on scene, the most common protocol is for us to accompany them to the nearest major trauma centre in a road ambulance.

In September, 49 of our patients were taken to The Royal London Hospital (38.6 per cent), 37 patients were taken to St Mary’s (29.1 per cent), 19 to King’s College (15 per cent) and 15 to St George’s (11.8 per cent). One patient was flown to St George’s.

September's busiest borough mapStabilising these patients on scene included administering 34 rapid sequence intubations, 22 blood transfusions, two thoracotomies (open chest surgery), one case of REBOA (balloon surgery to help control internal bleeding) and more. These are complex, potentially life-saving procedures, that only our team can provide on scene in London.

Assault resulted in the largest number of patients in September – 39 (23 per cent). Transport-related injuries resulted in 35 patients (21 per cent), falls 28 patients (17 per cent), medical-related injuries 18 (11 per cent) and accidents 16 (10 per cent). There were also 32 patients who had other or unknown injuries (19 per cent) – these include burns and industrial accidents.

On the worst day of someone’s life, our medics can provide hope for the patient and their loved ones. We’re proud to serve London, but we’re a charity, with 95 per cent of funding reliant on public donations.

With your support, we can continue to be here for London, today, tomorrow and always.
