London’s Air Ambulance Charity is thrilled to announce that the £15 million target needed to replace its two helicopters has been met ahead of schedule.
Thanks to incredible support from the people, businesses and communities of London, our charity has raised an amazing £16 million through its Up Against Time appeal. The money raised will mean that we can replace our two helicopters and keep them flying for years to come, continuing to save lives across London every day.
Every second a patient is waiting for treatment, can mean the difference between life and death. Our new helicopters will get us to the patient’s side within 11 minutes. Thank you for making sure we can be there for anyone who needs us, when they need us.
Our appeal was first publicly launched in October 2022. For the past two years we have been busy campaigning, spreading awareness of the charity and raising vital funds. Highlights from the appeal include our record-breaking fundraising gala, 2023’s Big City Collection and a BBC broadcast from the top of our helipad.
We are so grateful to every single individual who has helped us reach and exceed our target, from regular givers and lottery players, to the cornerstone supporters Global, Omaze and Julia and Hans Rausing and of course our long-standing supporters London Freemasons, who have committed £3 million for the appeal. We’d also like to give thanks to our royal patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, who has supported our appeal throughout – both publicly and privately – as well as the London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s Philanthropy Board, led by Julia Leal-Hartogs.
Thanks to the support we received, our service will be able to continue saving lives across the city, serving the people of London 24/7, 365 days a year. Every second a patient is waiting for treatment, can mean the difference between life and death, but our new helicopters will get us to the patient’s side within 11 minutes.
To everyone who has donated, given up their time and spread awareness of our charity, thank you. We are so excited to show you our new aircraft, which will be coming into operation later this year – please keep an eye on our channels for the first look.
