UPDATE: Our 'Your London, Your Helicopter' campaign in 2015 successfully raised the funds required to purchase our charity's second helicopter, G-LNDN. Click here to read more about the success of the second helicopter campaign, and the arrival of the helicopter in January 2016.

London born actor Larry Lamb and entrepreneur Richard Branson have joined our ‘Your London, Your Helicopter’ campaign — calling for a second medical emergency helicopter for the capital.

Knowing that London has only a single emergency medical helicopter for the 10 million people in London every day, Larry visited London’s Air Ambulance, the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London, to support the campaign.

Richard Branson expressed his support of the campaign on Twitter

Larry said: "A Londoner born and bred... I'm hugely proud and full of admiration for the doctors and paramedics at London’s Air Ambulance who work tirelessly around the clock to save lives. One of those lives might someday be mine or someone close to me so I am committed to helping make sure London’s Air Ambulance always has a helicopter available."

“This charity provides such a remarkable service to everyone in our incredible capital all with just one aircraft. It seems outrageous to me that a city which so many people rated as the best in the world has only one emergency medical helicopter.”

Larry — well known for playing Archie Mitchell in EastEnders and Michael Shipman in BBC Television show, Gavin & Stacey — grew up in Edmonton in North London. He hosted a Sunday morning radio show on LBC and is currently part of the BBC cast of New Tricks.

Sir Richard Branson — a businessman and investor best known as the founder of Virgin Group - was born in Blackheath, London.

Larry and Richard join iconic London born supermodel Twiggy in backing the campaign for a second helicopter. All have taken to Twitter wearing the campaign t-shirt to help raise awareness and encourage people to donate.
