On 17th November 2017, Darren and Julie Munro pulled out all the stops to throw a glamorous gala in aid of London’s Air Ambulance and the Fire Fighters Charity. 130 guests came together at Kingswood Gold and Country Club to support our charities, where they raised an incredible £9,500 for London’s Air Ambulance and £19,000 in total.

The evening featured a talk from London’s Air Ambulance Emeritus Paramedic Dean Bateman. Dean, a good friend of Darren’s currently working for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, spoke to the guests about the impact the money raised that evening would have on our service. Unbeknownst to Darren and Julie, 3 of their guests had personal experience of our charity within their family, and they stood at the end of Dean’s speech to give thanks. Julie said, “it really was emotional and incredible, and hit home that it could be any one of us needing a rapid response for the best possible outcome.”

Other highlights of the evening included an auction, with prizes featuring overnight stays at the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard and Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, and a piece of artwork from Mr KUU. Entertainment was provided from a pianist, a magician and DJ2K Danny Costello, whilst ‘DANCE’ letters kindly donated by Vowed and Amazed gave the venue an extra ‘wow’ factor.

Darren’s support of our charity will continue into the new year, as he takes on the Virgin Money London Marathon in aid London’s Air Ambulance, with Julie by his side fundraising for the Fire Fighters Charity. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Darren and Julie for their incredible support and dedication, and to all who attended the Gala and contributed in aid of our charity.
