Many of our volunteers choose to support us as part of a workplace partnership. Sally and Ian have both given up their time to support and fundraise for London’s Air Ambulance through the BlackRock Charity of the Year Partnership.
“London’s Air Ambulance is a great charity which has wide appeal, cutting across culture, faith and other social differences to provide excellent pre-hospital care for Londoners. I became involved when BlackRock chose them as their Charity of the Year Partner”, says Ian Annand, Vice President in the EMEA Product Development team.
BlackRock chose to support London’s Air Ambulance in September 2013. Ian and HR Executive Sally Freeman, have volunteered their time to ensure the partnership is a success.
Ian is the Lead Charity Coordinator at BlackRock. With support from the charity committee, he encourages his colleagues to get involved with fundraising events such as cake baking and selling raffle tickets. He has also inspired others to take on larger fundraising challenges such as a cycle ride from Paris to Geneva, which 95 members of staff have signed-up for.
Sally has worked alongside Ian to promote many of the fundraising events and played a big part in selling raffle tickets for the Christmas raffle, which raised over £20,000. She has learned a great deal about the charity as a result of her involvement, “It came as a complete surprise when I found out that London's Air Ambulance was a charity. Having now visited the helipad and met some of the Doctors, Paramedics and Pilots, I am in complete awe of the amazing work this team do — their stories are amazing to hear”.
