Saracens players Mouritz Botha and Carlos Nieto coached Highgate Primary School children to reward them for supporting London’s Air Ambulance. The school won our Wear Red Day competition when 400 children ‘sported' red during National Air Ambulance Week 2012. The prize, a tailored visit donated by Saracens, was delivered on 16th April.
Saracens lock Mouritz Botha and tight-head prop Carlos Nieto attended with the team’s community coach Lewis Sones. “We came down to deliver coaching and had a Q&A session with few demonstrations. It was good fun,”said Botha.
Highgate Primary School entered the competition after our pilot Andrew Thompson talked to the children about his job at London’s Air Ambulance. “The Charity captured the children’s imagination. After the talk about being a pilot at London’s Air Ambulance, every single child came to school wearing red on Wear Red Day,” said Highgate Primary School Headmaster Dean Williams.
Wear Red Day is a part of National Air Ambulance Week (23rd — 29th September), the UK wide initiative organised by Association of Air Ambulances. On 27 September, red is a dress code for all Londoners willing to support London’s Air Ambulance. Simply by wearing red to the office, school or on a night out, everyone can raise awareness and money for our service.
