Summer contract pilots
Would you like to work within a high performing and motivated team of pilots, delivering HEMS to the people of London?
We are recruiting motivated pilots with high personal and professional standards, to join the London’s Air Ambulance team. We have various roles on offer which suit developing and established pilots. If you have the skills and experience, we invite applications for the positions below:
We are receiving expressions of interest for contracted pilots to support our Summer 2025 extended hours rota, EC135 experience is essential.
We are also searching for a Co-Pilot ideally with some HEMS experience who we can mentor within an agreed pathway towards command.
We are also searching for two Captains, HEMS experience for these posts is essential. One of the post holders will ideally be a qualified Type Rating Examiner (EC135 preferable) to deliver our training programme.
London’s Air Ambulance have a small team of pilots who are dedicated in maintaining high standards of aviation, in order to deliver HEMS to the people of London. We are currently changing our fleet to the EC135 T3H, a change which will embody modernisation of our multi-pilot aviation environment.

Day to day, we work closely with the medical, fire and support staff. All are prepared and rehearsed in their roles and strive to provide the best service possible. We also liaise outside London's Air Ambulance, within the wider air ambulance network and other emergency services community to ensure a safe, efficient operations in line with industry best practice.
Our flights are short and mostly within the busy airspace of London to land and deliver clinical teams to scene with safety as our top priority. Where situations allow, once landed and shut down, pilots help clinical crews with logistics and also act as ambassadors for the charity, liaising with the public.

Institute Coordinator

Salary: £28,000 - £31,000 depending on experience + benefits

It’s an exciting time to join The Institute of Pre-Hospital Care, the dedicated team work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to deliver clinical and degree course programmes over a variety of subjects and faculties.
We are seeking to appoint an Institute Coordinator to support and coordinate the activities of our degree programmes within The Institute of Pre-Hospital Care. The Institute Coordinator will work closely with our clinical and operational teams from both the HEMS and PRU services along with our university colleagues and degrees faculty.
Reporting to the Institute’s Degree Officer, the post supports the delivery of the Degree course programmes. The post-holder will be an integral part of the team working closely with other members. You will be a highly organised and experienced administrator with a can-do attitude, meticulous attention to detail and excellent communication skill.

2 X HEMS Captain
Contract: 2 x Permanent
Hours: Full time
Reports to: Chief Pilot
Location: Helipad, Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Road, London, RAF Northolt
Team: Pilots
Reports: Nil
Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 (depending upon experience and qualifications) + benefits, including
private health insurance.
We are looking to appoint two experienced HEMS Captains, one of whom will hold a type rating instructor / type rating examiner qualification to deliver our training programme.
As a London’s Air Ambulance Captain you will be responsible for ensuring that all flights are operated Safely and in accordance with the Operations Manual. You will be used to establishing a strong team environment which will ensure the team is ready to respond swiftly.
You will have experience in HEMS, or an equivalent service, and able to work within a multidisciplinary team with high levels of accountability in sometimes difficult and challenging conditions.
