The Cricket World Cup and our helicopter

We are delighted to announce the backing of The Oval for our 30th anniversary campaign '30 Years Saving Lives'.

To celebrate the new partnership, we flew the Cricket World Cup from our helipad base at The Royal London Hospital to The Oval on Sunday. The flight also formed part of the World Cup Trophy Tour, driven by the Nissan. The ground hosts the tournament’s opening match between England and South Africa later this month, on Thursday May 30th.

The Oval will work with our charity throughout the year, with further details announced in due course.

Jon Surtees, Head of Community at The Oval said:

“London’s Air Ambulance has been a vital resource for the capital for the last 30 years and we’re delighted to be able to support their anniversary celebrations.

“With the Cricket World Cup, the Ashes and Surrey CCC’s County Championship defence, 2019 is also a massive year for The Oval and to have the trophy flown into our ground by one of London’s most iconic services is a very exciting start!”

Our 30th Anniversary Campaign, '30 Years Saving Lives', aims to highlight our vital work in delivering life-saving treatment across London, and raise support for the development of new facilities.  The Patron of the campaign is HRH The Duke of Cambridge, himself a former air ambulance pilot.

Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, said:

“We are delighted that The Oval has given their backing to London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s 30th Anniversary Campaign. Through their support we hope we can raise awareness of the life-saving work carried out by our crews across the city.

“We are looking forward to working together and would like to thank everyone at The Oval for their belief in our cause and for their support for the charity.  It costs £10million each year to provide our service so we really rely on the generosity of people, organisations and businesses in London to help us be there should someone need our rapid response care.”
