The life and pension firm Phoenix Group has extended its corporate charity partnership with London’s Air Ambulance and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for a further two years.

The partnership, which started in March 2014, has raised over £232,000 for both charities to date. This has been raised primarily through the fundraising efforts of the 750 employees based at the Group, together with company matching.

Phoenix’s employees regularly go the extra mile for their chosen charities. Staff fundraising has ranged from team challenges through to individual bucket-list type activities including mountain climbing, half marathons, cycle races, abseiling and sky diving.

During 2015, the Group will offer more staff volunteering opportunities with both charities and other community groups. Each employee is allowed up to two days each year for volunteering activity. In addition, the Group will look to donate more of its expertise, resource and time to volunteering.

Clive Bannister, Group Chief Executive at Phoenix Group said: “I am delighted that colleagues at Phoenix have chosen to extend this valuable and productive partnership with the air ambulance charities. Phoenix and the charities have derived great benefit from working together and I look forward to developing this relationship yet further.”

Sarah McCullough, Head of Corporate Partnerships and Events at London’s Air Ambulance said: “The Phoenix Group partnership has been fundamental to our ability to grow our fundraising income over the past 12 months and we are staggered at the level of commitment shown by staff in raising a phenomenal £232,000.

“The next two years will be hugely exciting for both our charities as London secures a much needed second helicopter and Midlands invests in research and training, allowing both charities to continue to deliver the very best patient care. Having the support of Phoenix Group until 2017 enables all parties to mature and strengthen this core relationship whilst making a significant impact on pre-hospital medical care in our regions.”
