Richard Harris, formerly CEO of The Channel Syndicate, is hoping to raise £100,000 towards our ‘Your London, Your Helicopter’ campaign to acquire and sustain a second helicopter.

Richard is offering his services to businesses and asking them to donate his daily rate to us. He will undertake any kind of task from working on reception to providing consultancy services and has already received pledges from Aon, Barbican, XL Catlin, THB and Ironshore.

Richard Harris said: “This September marks my 40th anniversary in the City during which time I have met many wonderful people and have been provided with fascinating opportunities so I would like to help give something back to the City and those who work here.

“London’s Air Ambulance delivers critical care to our city yet there is just one helicopter available to cover the 10 million people who live, work and visit London. £3.9 million has already been raised but a further £2.1 million is needed.”

He added: “Insurance is a at the heart of the Square Mile so please help me raise as much money as we can in order to help the charity get the additional emergency medical helicopter to continue delivering critical care across the city.”

Currently London only has one emergency medical helicopter to serve the 10 million people who live, work and commute in the capital every day. Through acquiring and sustaining a second helicopter and by extending our daylight flying hours in the summer months, we will be able to reach an estimated 400 more patients per year by aircraft. By having a helicopter available at all times, it will also give London greater resilience during major incidents.
