London Dynamo's cyclists

London Dynamo – one of the largest cycling clubs in London – has raised over £5,000 for London’s Air Ambulance Charity after the service saved one of its members in June 2022.

The fundraiser ride, branded the ‘Ride for Recovery’, was held on Saturday 10 September and saw over 100 cyclists take to the Richmond Park circuit. Each rider completed four laps of the 12km route and participants and spectators all came together to support the cause.

“Following Roger’s accident, the charity has touched a chord with a lot of our members,” said Andy Taylor, London Dynamo’s Club Secretary. “We were hoping to reach £1,000, so it was staggering to hit five times that.”

The total raised by London Dynamo will cover the cost of at least two missions – of which London’s Air Ambulance attends five a day on average: missions like Roger’s accident.

Luckily we always cycle in groups so you have fellow members to help if something does go wrong. Thankfully the air ambulance was able to get to him, but no one was sure if he would make it,” said Andy. “However, he has, and we’re so glad we’ve been able to help in a small way, to give something back to the people who saved him.”

As well as individuals supporting London’s Air Ambulance Charity with donations on the day, the London Dynamo club itself contributed £1,000 to the pot. We’re so thankful to the club and to everyone who attended, and so pleased to hear Roger is now recovering at home with his family.
