Katya Jones and Aimee Fuller doing London's Air Ambulance Charity's helipad abseil

On 9 June, Strictly Come Dancing star Katya Jones and Team GB’s Winter Olympian Aimee Fuller together abseiled down the side of The Royal London Hospital in London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s annual event.

The duo had recently appeared on Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted and together decided to join our fundraisers, volunteers and crew at our helipad abseil.

The abseil sees you descend the 17 floors of the hospital, from the highest rooftop helipad in Europe, in a free-hang aspect. We run this event annually and have another 2023 date already available – if you’d like to join the abseil team this September, please find out more here

Before their descent, Katya and Aimee met with some of the other abseilers to talk about the nature of our service and to highlight the fact that, contrary to popular belief, the work of London’s Air Ambulance is funded almost entirely by charitable donations.

London’s Air Ambulance teams exhibit the same unwavering commitment and bravery that I’ve seen at the top level of sport and I couldn’t be happier to help spread awareness about their amazing work. I'm honoured to stand alongside my best friend Katya, and put ourselves into a new challenging environment to contribute to the ongoing success of London’s Air Ambulance Charity as they save lives and make a difference."

Katya Jones said: “The abseil was such a great experience and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to see London from a new – slightly terrifying – perspective. I'm thrilled to support such an important cause and shed light on the fact that their incredible work relies on charitable donations. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that London’s Air Ambulance continues to provide life-saving care to everyone who lives and works in London."
