Last year, Fabio – a coffee shop owner in Debden – participated in RideLondon on behalf of London’s Air Ambulance Charity and raised over £1,000. This year, he’s signed up to do it all over again.
The ride consists of 100 miles that start and end in central London and feature a loop through the Essex countryside.
“I have always loved cycling,” said Fabio. “I’ve been cycling for over 25 years now, and I really enjoy the RideLondon race.”
Previously in other fundraising events, Fabio would choose a charity for children to support. But last year when signing up to RideLondon, London’s Air Ambulance Charity caught his eye.
“I was surprised the air ambulance was a charity. You help everyone, not just children, any kind of person whether young or old. The air ambulance is so important for everyone, so I picked to ride for you.”
When you sign up to join our RideLondon team, you get access to a specific private Facebook group with other riders. Last year, Fabio really enjoyed the team spirit this created.
“I am a very sociable person, I loved talking to everyone. Having that community is important and really fun!”
In a bid to try and reach as many people as possible, Fabio is dedicating his 50th birthday to fundraising too.
“My big birthday is just before the ride, so I am going to use that occasion to spread the word and hopefully raise more money for the air ambulance.”
RideLondon this year is on 28 May and Fabio is “big time looking forward to it!”. There are still some spaces available on London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s team, so if you’re interested in signing up and joining us – and Fabio – please do so today.
“It’s such a great ride, anyone can do it if they a train a little. Every 20 miles you can stop for some food and drink too, and the atmosphere will carry you a long a bit of the way too. Come along!” said Fabio.
We’d love to have you on our team, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
