London's Air Ambulance's red helicopter

Philanthropists Julia and Hans Rausing, renowned for their widespread commitment to supporting charitable causes, have contributed £1 million to London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s Up Against Time appeal.

This generous donation, combined with £6.5 million already secured, brings us halfway to the £15 million required to replace our helicopter fleet by 2024.

The appeal has never had more momentum, with the donation from Julia and Hans Rausing following on from a cornerstone pledge of £3 million from London Freemasons and the continued support of partners such as the charity’s royal patron, HRH The Prince of Wales.

Julia and Hans Rausing, who collectively donate £50 million to UK charities annually, have shown consistent dedication to fostering a healthy society that provides care to those in need and creates opportunities for all.

London’s Air Ambulance Charity extends its deepest gratitude to Julia and Hans Rausing and all the individuals, organisations and partners who have rallied behind the Up Against Time appeal.

Jonathan Jenkins, CEO, London’s Air Ambulance Charity, said: "The extraordinary generosity of Julia and Hans Rausing brings us one step closer to our vision of bringing in a new generation of helicopters for London. Their contribution is far more than just a numerical figure; it is a donation that will have a profound impact on the lives of those we serve.

“As a service funded overwhelmingly by donations, the support of philanthropists like Julia and Hans Rausing is the only way for our charity to continue to provide rapid, life-saving care to those in need across the capital.

“We couldn’t be more grateful for their backing and significant commitment of support.”
