In March 2023, The London Freemasons pledged to raise £3 million towards our Up Against Time appeal. As part of this fundraising commitment, Bro. J.S.Sandhu of The Tower Lodge endured a fire walk for the charity.

On the evening of 17 March 2023, Jay completed two fire walks, one for London’s Air Ambulance Charity and one for himself. In total he raised £1,650.

“Fire is a powerful symbol, one that we are conditioned to fear from a young age. Walking over hot coals is an act of facing our fears head on and pushing past them,” said Jay. “The coals themselves represent the obstacles that hold us back from living a fulfilling life. Walking over them is a symbolic experience that proves to us that if we can conquer the fire, we can conquer anything.”

The London Freemasons are long-term supporters of the charity – their support over the years has enabled the service to be there for approximately 11,000 Londoners since 2016.

Previously, they have helped us purchase our second helicopter and update our fleet of rapid response cars. This year’s cornerstone pledge will once again help us continue to be there for London, 24/7, 365 days a year.

As part of the organisation’s pledge, individual members will complete their own fundraising, just like Jay.

“The fire walk is a tool to break through limitations and become a better version of ourselves. It's not just about positive thinking, but about utilising the tools within us to reach the next level of our lives. By doing so, we can create an extraordinary life for ourselves and help others achieve their best as well.

“Now I’m considering doing a sky dive from 15,000 ft. There is a 60 second free fall at 120 mph. But, I hate heights! It will be another mind over matter task for the charity!”

We’re so grateful to Jay and the Freemasons for their innovative support!
