In the countdown to the London Marathon, our charity’s runners got together last night for a “pre-match” Pasta Party.

This year, 34 runners will be taking on the 26.2 mile run to fundraise for our charity. The event, hosted in collaboration with Coco di Mama, gave the team a chance to meet ahead of the big day. The runners shared their tips, nerves and excitement as they began the important pre-marathon ritual of carb-loading. Coco di Mama also kindly donated some pasta to our Opps Crew to fuel them on today’s shift.

Fresh from completing the 'toughest footrace on earth', our charity’s Marathon des Sables team were paid a visit by BBC London yesterday.

Reporter Caroline Davies came to our helipad at The Royal London Hospital to hear about their epic 250km, self-sustained journey. The team provided a unique insight into the difficulties of the race.

Following the reports in The Sunday Times regarding an air ambulance charity, London's Air Ambulance has issued the following statement from CEO Jonathan Jenkins;

London's Air Ambulance is not connected in any way to The Air Ambulance Service.  We are an entirely separate charity.

All money given to London's Air Ambulance by our generous supporters goes straight towards delivering our service, helping us to provide a 24/7 advanced trauma team to the critically injured in the capital.

We’re always incredibly humbled by our supporters who are willing to go above and beyond to help our charity to raise life-saving funds. However, students Kate and Kieran will not just be going above and beyond, but over fire, under wire and carrying tyres to raise money for our service. They will be taking on the Reebok Spartan Super, a 16km race with over 21 obstacles standing between them and the finish line.

When your life has been turned upside down by serious injury, the road ahead can be hard to comprehend. At these times, it can be invaluable to hear from those who have been on the journey you are about to take. In co-writing our new patient booklet, Dr Siobhan Williams produced a resource to inspire and provide comfort to those who have recently experienced trauma.

Today, we released our mission statistics for 2017 to raise awareness of the work we do treating critically injured patients in the Capital. The data shows that we were dispatched to 1797 trauma patients across London last year.

Today is International Women’s Day, an opportunity for us to celebrate the work and achievements of the women in our organisation and our friends who support the charity. It’s also exactly one month until our team take their marks on the start line of the Marathon des Sables, meaning that much like the desert, training is heating up. To mark both occasions, we’re shining a spotlight on the three women taking on the challenge.
