FirstGroup, the leading transport operator in the UK and North America is providing our charity, with £100k worth of support over four years. Last month one of FirstGroup’s brand new hybrid buses, which is one of 23 which has just entered service in Essex, went head to head with our aircraft at RAF Northolt to promote the partnership.

Forty eight members of The Barts and the London Medical School Boat Club participated in a yearly event on 12th April, rowing non stop for a day to raise money for London's Air Ambulance. Students were taking turns on a rowing machine at North side of the Millennium Footbridge.

“As medical students we all highly value the importance of pre-hospital care and what better way to show it than raise money to support London's Air Ambulance that sits on top of our very own hospital", said Emile Oliver from The Barts and the London Medical School Boat Club.

On 9th May, MP for Croydon South, Richard Ottaway, visited London’s Air Ambulance, the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London, to pledge his support by generating awareness of the Charity in his constituency.  In 2012, London’s Air Ambulance attended 63 incidents in Croydon.

On Saturday 25th May, a group of six London’s Air Ambulance employees also known as Sisters with Blisters set out on a 100km walk from London to Brighton to raise money for their very own charity. Fundraising for London’s Air Ambulance being the core of their everyday activities, the team decided to go the extra mile with London 2 Brighton Challenge. They finished in 32 hours, raising cca £2,350 via their work contacts, friends and families.

Commuters from east London and south Essex have generously donated almost £1,600 to London's Air Ambulance in a collection drive at Fenchurch Street. A team of volunteers and staff collected donations from passengers on Friday 24th May.

National Express train operator c2c backed passengers by donating £461 towards the total after staff chose London's Air Ambulance as the charity they wanted to benefit from c2c's annual employee survey.

On 6th June 2013, Dan Hudson and Rupert Lewis, partners at law firm Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), will be taking part in a Surrey Centurion bike ride in aid of London’s Air Ambulance. The 50km fundraising ride, organised by HSF, takes place only two years after London’s Air Ambulance helped save Dan’s life following his serious cycling accident.

16 year old Rayan could have been yet another teenager to die from a knife attack in London.  Instead earlier this year, when he was stabbed in the chest and his heart stopped, a London’s Air Ambulance doctor and paramedic were by his side in minutes, to perform open heart surgery and administer a blood transfusion at the roadside, literally giving him life when he was clinically dead.

On 11th June, local MPs attended a reception held by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Air Ambulances (APPGAA) to demonstrate their support for London’s Air Ambulance. The reception, the first of its kind, was designed to bring patients, air ambulance charities, ambulance services and legislators together.

On 22 June - 5 July, Philip Summerfield and Jonathan Porter are completing a motorcycle tour of Great Britain to fundraise for air ambulance charities across the country. Starting from East Midlands Airport, the 3,400 mile circuit is taking them anti-clockwise around England, Scotland and Wales. Driving on average 245 miles a day, they reached London's Air Ambulance on the fifth day of their fundraising tour.

3 years after being hit by a car and learning to walk again, Kim Bowler did the 5km Superhero Run. Walking 5km is an immense challenge when you have survived a collision with a high speed car. Kim had broken her spine and all her ribs, shattered her hip and both her lungs had collapsed. “I would have died if it wasn't for London’s Air Ambulance,” says Kim. Her 5km walk raised enough money to send our team to another critically injured person in London.
