Brave individuals have been lining up to go off the edge of our helipad to raise vital funds for the service. 

The helipad is 284ft up off the ground, on top The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. It is the highest helipad in the UK and possibly also in Europe. From Thursday through to Sunday over 130 people have faced their fears and scaled down the side of the hospital generating £55,000 in sponsorship.

Our service has performed the world’s first roadside balloon surgery to control internal bleeding.   Use of pre-hospital Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) to control haemorrhage in trauma patients is a ground breaking move by London’s Air Ambulance. The pioneering work of London’s Air Ambulance has been celebrated at this year’s Charity Awards. Blood on Board, the initiative to administer blood transfusion at the roadside has been awarded the top accolade for Healthcare and Medical Research.

As well as keeping the kids amused with baloons and stickers, Wilko Dagenham team raised £95 via collection buckets and tins alone on their launch day. The event that  celebrated the local store's partnership with London's Air Ambulace raised further £50 from sales of T-shirts in the store.

Many of our volunteers choose to support us as part of a workplace partnership. Sally and Ian have both given up their time to support and fundraise for London’s Air Ambulance through the BlackRock Charity of the Year Partnership.

We have today unveiled our new fleet of Å KODA Octavia vRS Estate rapid response cars. The cars operate at night, in adverse weather conditions or as back up in major incidents. Bringing uniformity to the London’s Air Ambulance fleet, the new cars will now sport the same red livery as its iconic helicopter, and are also emblazoned with high visibility Battenberg strips required on emergency vehicles.

Channel 5's 'Trauma Doctors: Every Second Counts' returns for a second series on Thursday 15th May at 9pm, featuring London’s Air Ambulance and The Royal London Hospital. 

Doctor and paramedic teams were filmed from October to December 2013 during helicopter shifts by day and fast response car by night. Filming also took place with the Physician Response Unit, the senior doctor and paramedic team that responds to medical emergencies including patients in cardiac arrest.

On 20th -21st April, Jonathan Sinyor (12) and Jamie Fattal (13) played table tennis for two days in aid of London’s Air Ambulance, the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London. The boys estimate they have raised close to £4,000 during the Easter break.
