Did you know that London's Air Ambulance has around 2,000 small charity pots scattered all around London in various corner shops, newsagents and pubs? Small they might seem but each of the pots brings on average £50, which mounts up to an incredible £104,000 a year. The pots, of course, need to be regularly collected and replaced and this is where our volunteer drivers come in.

Twenty six teams took part in our first ever ‘City Bounce’ bubble football tournament on 10 March at Play on Sports Arena in Whitechapel. Raising a total of £15,000, the funds will help us save more lives in London. 

More than 130 young City workers put on the inflatable zorbs to play against each other and support the charity. The event was organised in partnership with Tokio Marine Kiln — the leading provider of specialist and corporate insurance.

Jonathan Jenkins, London based CEO of the Social Investment Business (www.sibgroup.org.uk), one of the pioneers of social investment in the UK now managing one of the largest social investment portfolios in the UK, will be completing the Marathon des Sables 2016, the equivalent of five and a half marathons over six days in the Sahara Desert, to raise funds for the charity.

Channel 5's 'Trauma Doctors: Every Second Counts' returns for a third series on Thursday 10th March at 9pm, featuring London’s Air Ambulance and The Royal London Hospital and Barts Heart Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust. 

The six one-hour weekly episodes will provide an insight into the thought processes and decision making that takes place when our advanced trauma doctors and paramedics are treating critically injured or complex patients. Viewers will be 'inside the heads' of the team as they make critical, split second decisions.

Orion, Community and Database Volunteer

Orion decided to become a volunteer because he is passionate about working to help the local community. ‘I chose London's Air Ambulance because I think there is no better charity that benefits the whole of London.’

Six year old Megan from Fulham is one of the lucky winners to name one of our helicopters. The winning name, selected for its emotive reason, is 'Walter', named after Megan’s Grandad. On an exclusive visit to our helipad at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel this week, Megan got to see her chosen name in all of its glory. The name has been placed on the new helicopter, the G-LNDN registered MD902 Explorer.

In celebration of Shrove Tuesday, 20 teams took part in the Great Spitalfields Pancake Race organized by Alternative Arts to raise funds for our charity. Teams of four raced up and down Dray Walk at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane suitably dressed up, or down, tossing pancakes on the way. The E Team Clowns kept control of the crowds and the Lost Marbles String Band provided a melodious soundtrack.

Join The Great Spitalfields Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday and raise funds for us. Teams of four, suitably dressed up (or down) will gather to compete for the honour of becoming this year’s race champions when they run up and down Dray Walk at the Old Truman Brewery. Free to enter, teams are instead invited to get themselves sponsored or make a donation to help us save more lives in London.
