We held our annual Autumn Reception on Tuesday, 27th October 2015. This year’s event was hosted with special thanks to the Master of The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers, Mr Bill Mahony, who generously made the stunning Plaisterers’ Hall available to us for the evening.

Designer and Artist Yoni Alter has created 50 limited edition signed prints of one of his most iconic designs to help raise fund and awareness for us. 

The new version of ‘Shapes of London’ — part of Yoni’s ‘Shapes of Cities’ series — includes our current helicopter as well as the addition of two new buildings to its London skyline composition — Leadenhall Building (The Cheesegrater) and 20 Fenchurch Street (The Walkie-Talkie).

The London Freemasons' appeal to pledge to raise £2million towards our ‘Your London, Your Helicopter campaign to acquire and sustain a second helicopter, and extend our daylight flying hours for five years, was given a boost yesterday with a cheque presentation of £750,000. This sum takes the amount raised so far by the London Freemasons to £1million in just eight months.

Cycle enthusiast, Paul Heath, will be riding across the United States’ ‘Death Valley’ later this month, to raise funds for us and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. 

Paul, a 46 year old Solihull resident, will be covering a total distance of 382km in five days. Located in Eastern California, the valley is the hottest and driest area of North America, and renowned for being home to one of the toughest cycle routes in the world.

Starting at 9am on Tuesday October 27, @thenewsbuilding account will highlight our lifesaving work.

This takeover comes on the back of a £10,000 donation from News UK's parent company News Corp, which is being used to supply a month's worth of helicopter fuel.

When our Finance Manager, Louise Schoeman, saw our helicopter land in a park years before she started working for London’s Air Ambulance, it didn’t cross her mind that she will one day be purchasing a second one for London. “It was exciting and much more complex than you would think,” says Louise.

We have become Foxtons first long-term official partner and was unanimously chosen by employees following our ‘Your London, Your Helicopter’ campaign to acquire and sustain a much-needed second helicopter.

On Wednesday 23rd September, staff from Lloyds Bank took on the ‘Lloyds Bank Pots Challenge’ to increase the number of our charity pots across London. 

The 126 participants were split into teams, racing against each other, and the clock, to place as many of our charity pots as possible. A total of 639 pots were placed in areas all across the city — including in shops, cafes, hairdressers and football clubs.

Last week — alongside our partners Barts Health NHS Trust and London Ambulance Service — we scooped the ‘Cross-sector Partnership’ award at the Charity Times Awards for our pioneering work on REBOA, a technique to control haemorrhage in trauma patients.
